Why did I suggest that?
I mean, we have a beautiful environment that numerous people come and train there each day. I would encourage those people to choose a number of different place to go and train. And the reason why, the main reason why is to remain engaged in the activity. To continually stimulate yourselves mentally and physically and in some cases emotionally.
So, for me, it’s about going for a walk perhaps, on a bush track. Or taking an alternate route in terms of a bike ride when riding through the foothills in Panton Hills or up in Kangaroo Grounds.
So, it’s about constantly changing the environment and therefore, constantly stimulating your brain, constantly stimulating your different senses. In that way, we found that you continue to engage and reengage in the whole experience.
I know that there are many who love routine and love an environment that doesn’t change. And there are people that can work within that because there’s certainty, there’s familiarity. They don’t have to think. They know exactly where the piece of equipment is. What you may not know is if you continue using the same muscles, using the same equipment on a regular basis, you’ll plateau. The muscles reach a point where there’s no longer enough stimulus or the stimulus is the same and the body goes, “Well, I don’t need to change.” So, by increasing the repetition or the activity or changing the dynamic movement, that in itself will continue to create changes within your body.
So, I’m encouraging you to consider two things: one is your environment. I mean there’s nothing like going away on a holiday and going to a new gym. It may be to see that in spite some new training range, maybe you’re in this environment and you see somebody doing an exercise you’ve never observed before. Maybe in this environment, there was certain colors or certain music that engaged you at a place where you would once before been on a high. So, I find that constantly changing the environment, constantly changing the activities in the exercises that we do will continue to reengage you.
When we conduct leadership training Melbourne, we mix up the styles and the types of interactions we have with the people we are training to keep them engaged.
So that will allow you to mentally, physically and emotionally engage through a variety of activities. And you will enjoy longevity.
